Ideas

Use ideas for accepted feature requests and product suggestions that are not bugs and are not ready for planned work.

An idea usually starts as incoming feedback in Triage. Accept it when the request is worth keeping, but still needs a clearer problem, value, owner, or next step before it becomes an initiative.

Ideas

How ideas work

Ideas sit between triage and planning. They are useful for customer requests, teammate suggestions, product improvements, and workflow requests that should not be lost, but do not deserve roadmap commitment yet.

Idea can also be a status. New initiatives or bugs created from the Backlog can start with Idea status so they stay in intake instead of pretending to be planned work.

Move an idea forward

Move an idea forward when the decision is clear:

  • What problem or opportunity does it describe?
  • Which customer, product, or goal does it affect?
  • Who owns the next decision?
  • Should it become an initiative, a bug, ongoing work, or a todo?
  • Should it be planned now, shaped later, or declined?

When an idea needs shaping before commitment, keep it in the Backlog. If the idea arrived through triage, Triage Items explains how accepted, declined, and duplicate decisions are handled.
